well...I had a really long and opinionated post about the happenings of the hurricane. but as someone so kindly pointed out to me....I am cruel & uncaring. Obviously my opinions don't really matter if they are mean. Not that what i was saying was meant to be mean...but whatever. i will remain from having any opinions about anything at anytime. thank you to the person who so nicely pointed these faults of mine out. i am glad that i have you to rely on.
Oh, and Helen....I had NOT heard anyone blaming gays for this. What the hell?? Where do people come up with this stuff? I know that frustrates you and for that I am sorry. Big Hugs to you, friend. You can take my cue and just shake your head at the stupid people. For they will get no further in their lives than their stupid common sense will take them. (Which will probably just be down the street. lol)
PS. (and off topic) Sarah---I hope that you are feeling better and that every thing is going well. I worry about you. I haven't seen you online in a few days. Be strong and keep smiling. Let me know if you need anything!!

WOW--You had alot to say on that. I've wondered some of the same things. Did these people not get multiple warnings? Why did they not do whatever they could to get out of the city? that is a HUGE question I wan't answered.
You have an excellent way of putting into words some of the exact same thoughts I've had. I wish I had answers for you & everyone else.. but alas I do not. All I can say, is Amen Sister!
HUGS HUN!
That was FANTASTIC!!! Agreed, Agreed, Agreed. Im sure katrina materialized just to wash out all of the black people. Yup. I bet Bush somehow, someway, created the hurricane for just that purpose. Yup. (That was sarcasm) :0)
I am fine. Read my blog. All good.
Before someone gets mad at my previous comment, I personally do not feel this way. I dont care if you are red, yellow, black , white, or purple with pink polka dots. Just my own little sarcastic vent. :0) I did however, dontate some clothes to a family who high-tailed it out of there and is living with friends in our town. If someone told me a hurricane was coming, you bet your ass I would be driving away at break-neck speed. Yup. :0)
Th great thing about a blog is being able to say exactly what you feel, I agree that no one person is to blame for any of this, mistakes have been made and the real disaster will be if nothing is learned from it. I can imagine a lot of people not believeing it was going to happen, not thinking they had enough money to get out, or feeling they had nowhere to go...the whole thing is terrible. let's hope we see some heriosim now from someone, anyone and some help is given quickly.
thanks for your kind comments about my feelings towards the "God wanted to wipe out gays" mentality!
While I respect your choice not to make this into a debate.. I do ask you to consider that there were many tales here in Canada of tourists who got left behind to face the hurricane with no way to get out... if so many Canadians with money and somewhere to go didn't have the means to escape what makes you think it would have been any easier for the residents of the city who have significantly less money and nowhere to go to get themselves out of harms way?
Just something to think about...
Julie
Julie,
I agree with you. I am not saying that everyone there had a way to get out. I realize that some people had situations (such as travelers, handicapped, etc.) where they were not able to get out. But my problem is...the people who live there KNEW what was coming their way..and they KNEW what would happen to their city. And it is almost as if they didn't care. And now that the worst possible scenario has happened, they are ready to have a pity party and blame anyone and everyone that they can.
Thank you for giving me something to think about. I appreciate your viewpoint. :)
Kudos to you for taking my comment in the spirit it was meant :) I'm glad to see that we can discuss without having to debate.
I do appreciate your point of view as well, honestly. I just felt the need to point out that painting everyone with the same brushstroke wasn't necessarily fair.
Cheers!
Julie
Glad to see there are no hard feelings. :) And you are right, it wasn't fair to include everyone in such a broad generalization. But in all honesty, I have not see any footage of Canadians or other vacationers in New Orleans having a poor pity party like those of the actual residents.
Again, I do appreciate your viewpoint and it has made me think and look at things in a little bit different light. I appreciate you doing that.
You sound incredibly cruel and uncaring.
anonymous...
as do you, for your inability to show who you are.
If you even read her other posts you would know that Caryn is one of the MOST LOVING and KIND and GIVING persons on this earth.
So what? Is she not allowed to be frustrated? Is she not allowed to have her own thoughts? Or should she conform to YOU and YOUR PERFECT WORLD?
Because, honestly...what would this world be like if we all thought exactly the same? It would be a boring place.
Seriously. You sound incredibly cruel & uncaring for posting what you did.
And yeah, I know that I'm right up there w/you for saying all this. But the fact is...I'm not. I know I'm not. I have my opinions, and my blog is my place to vent them. As is Caryn's.
Why don't you go to your own blog & vent there about how cruel & uncaring I am?
